10 Creative Ways to Enjoy Hot Sauce

10 Creative Ways to Enjoy Hot Sauce

“You can’t put hot sauce on that!”

Yes, you can! That’s the beautiful thing about our favourite spicy sauces, they’re wonderfully versatile condiments that can banish bland boring food by adding just a few drops. We have a few ‘secret’ recipes that we want to share with you all - so you can be as crazy about hot sauce as we are.

1. Popcorn With A Bang!

Take the classic movie-time snack and add some spice. It’s as simple as drizzling a few drops over the freshly prepared popcorn. A little squeeze of lime can be a game-changer too. Don’t add too much; otherwise, it’ll go soggy. A little goes a long way. A real pro tip is to melt some butter with hot sauce and toss it through the popcorn for a nice even coating.

2. Seriously Spicy Hummus

Homemade hummus is surprisingly easy to make. Just blend up a mix of chickpeas, garlic, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, water, a pinch of salt and of course HOT SAUCE. You’ll then have a thick and creamy hummus perfect for a dip or spread.

3. Ice Cream Fire Breather

Now, hear us out. Pairing the right fruity-flavoured hot sauce with rich, creamy vanilla ice cream is incredible. It’s a perfect mix of sweet and spicy. The ice cream brings out the fruity flavours of the sauce. But don’t worry, you’ll still taste the fiery kick of the chillies. If you’re looking for a recommendation try it with the Chipotle & Pineapple Sauce

4. Bloody Marys That Bite Back

Ditch the boring Tabasco sauce and reach for something with some real heat and real flavour! Down here at the Crazy Bastard UK headquarters, Geoff wouldn’t stop raving about his Trinidad Scorpion & Clementine Sauce Bloody Marys. Crafting one of these is a work of art. We’d recommend starting with just a few drops and plenty of (his) trial and error to get the mix just right.

5. Hot Hot Peanut Butter

Are you craving the flavours of satay sauce and other savoury peanut butter recipes? It can be a great way to add a twist to a stir fry or as a side dipping sauce. Grab some peanut butter, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and some Ghost Pepper & Mango Sauce. Blend them all up and you’ll have a spicy sticky peanut butter sauce for… well anything.

6. Marinades and BBQs

Hot sauce doesn’t have to wait until after the food is cooked. If you’re planning a BBQ break out the spicy sauces and add it into your usual marinade. The vinegar in the sauce works great as a tenderizer, while the thick coating adds to the crispy outer texture of your chicken. Mix it with olive oil for a nice, even coating and to help tame the heat if needed.

7. Hot Sauce Infused Honey

While we’re on the topic of marinades we have to talk about hot sauce and honey. This delicious blend of spicy and sweet is sure to become a new favourite of yours. It's super simple and strangely addictive - all you have to do is add honey, hot sauce, apple cider vinegar and a few chilli flakes if you're feeling brave. Combine them in a pan over medium heat for a few minutes until fully integrated. Then, pour it into a dipping ramekin or drizzle directly.

8. Spice Up Your Salads

Tired of the same old salad dressings? A few drops of something hot can take it to the next level. There are so many ways to go about adding it in. Whether you’re mixing it into a classic vinaigrette or adding a few drops to complement a creamy salad dressing, the choice is yours.

9. Chilli Power Ploughman’s

The classic ploughman’s sandwich is always welcome for lunch. Thick slabs of cheddar and some lettuce for crunch but what’s missing? Ah yes, sauce! We’ve got nothing against a thick onion chutney but what we crave is a spicy sauce to cut through that vintage cheese like a knife through butter. We love using our mild Jalapeño & Date sauce for this. It’s thick like a chutney and perfect for slathering all over your sarnie.

10. Add It To The Pot

Stews, soups, curries, whatever you like! Home cooking is always better with hot sauce. This is a great way to enjoy seriously spicy sauces like our Superhot Naga sauce. With a flaming 500,000 SHU, this sauce will surprise you with its complexity and flavour. Just a few drops of this in with a simple tomato sauce will make a weekday dinner something to remember.
